Answers for Ogden, UT Owners Weighing Business Funding

Short answers to the questions Weber and Davis County owners ask before they contact a broker. Every answer links to the page with the full treatment.

In short

Oceangate Funding Group, a small-business funding broker in Ogden, Utah, answers common questions here: what a broker does, whether a new LLC can get business funding, what documents partners ask for, how credit checks work, why a merchant cash advance is not a loan, and which Utah registration records matter. Every credit decision stays with lending partners.

About the broker

Does the money come from Oceangate Funding Group?

No. Oceangate Funding Group is a broker, not a lender. Our work is preparing requests and pairing them with partners; approval, rates and terms are the partners' call. How a request moves shows each step.

Where is the office?

2618 Washington Blvd, Ogden, UT 84401. The phone is (801) 618-3773, and most conversations happen by phone.

Do you handle personal loans?

No. We arrange business funding only, not personal, payday, auto title or mortgage loans.

LLCs and newer businesses

Can an LLC get a business loan in Utah?

Yes. An LLC is one of the most common borrowers. Partners look at the LLC's revenue, bank activity and time in business, and usually ask the owners to sign personal guarantees.

Can a new LLC in Utah get a business loan?

Some partners fund newer businesses, but many want several months of operating history and deposits. Equipment financing, where the asset secures the deal, is often more reachable for a new LLC than unsecured funding.

Do I need an LLC to get a business loan in Utah?

Not always. Sole proprietors can apply for some business funding. A registered entity, a separate business bank account and clean state records make a request easier to review. The Utah registration checklist lists the records partners ask about.

Documents and credit

Which documents do lending partners request?

Recent business bank statements come first; tax returns, financial statements, a quote or a contract follow when the request calls for them. The first call needs none of it.

Will my credit be checked?

Most partners check business credit and often each owner's personal credit. Before authorizing anything, ask whether the partner's inquiry is soft or hard.

Merchant cash advances

Why isn't a merchant cash advance called a loan?

Because it is not one. A merchant cash advance is not a loan: the funder buys part of the business's future receivables and collects them from sales; holdbacks, factor rates and stacking are covered on the merchant cash advance page.

Local questions

Do you work outside Weber County, UT?

Yes, with businesses in Davis County towns such as Layton, Clearfield, Syracuse and Kaysville, and elsewhere in northern Utah, by phone and online.

Where can I find free business advising in northern Utah?

The SBA's Utah District Office serves all 29 counties in Utah, and the Utah SBDC network offers advising. Both are listed with other contacts in the Utah guides and tools.
